Thomas, I've had folks clamoring for more info on this piece even from DVXuser so I'm glad you fired up this thread. This was the very first work ever done with a Pentax K lens on the Brevis..so not only is it an outstanding piece of work, but it has some historical significance here too :-)

Definetely one of the best shorts I've seen in a long time. Acting, cinematography, editing, music, sound... everything just works and keeps you connected to the story. And the ending is perfect.

Congratulations. :D

Martin, your thoughts on this piece are almost word for word what Hubert here had to say. We screened it again today for a few guests.

Very interesting and well done. The music selection is perfect. I'd love to see part two. That would make a superb extended TV commercial for that point and shoot digital camera.

I had to watch it a second time directly after the first viewing because I was so involved in the story that I missed all of the technical aspects. Nice.

Really beautiful and original. It's really nice to see something like this when forums are filled with zombie or revenge shorts. Keep up the good work and PLEASE do tell us more about the production behind this.

Thomas, are you gonna enter any fests with this short?

Was there any post-stabilizing used for some of the camera moves? Upon second viewing I noticed some jerkiness and unnatural blurring in a few moves (most noticable at 2:12). Don't want to nitpick, just curious.

Beautiful. Inspired me lots and lots to go out and shoot with my HV20 and brevis...forget using the hvx.

Enter it into festivals. It'll do well.

Do you love bruce allen's lcd? I'm thinking of getting one.

How did you attach it to your rig?

Cheers,
Tom

Yes. Next stop: the emerging filmmakers program at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Ted, glad to see you guys used the Manfrotto collection of parts for the LCD mount. It's hard to beat for cost effectiveness. I had no idea the HV20 also output magnification and peaking via HDMI..not sure I've seen this from the component outputs. You've got me curious now!

One question from the DVX thread (yes, I was pimping you guys over there) was why you chose the b&w format?

Dennis asks: "why you chose the b&w format?"

Probably because the HV20's native color output simply sucks. The honest truth is that, if the piece were in color, it would NOT be as compelling.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I mean... having being the owner of a HV20 myself... and having relinquished it precisely because of its lousy native color rendition capability.

But, that being said, if I were stuck shooting with an HV20, I would have done the same thing... meaning, turn it to a B&W project to save grace.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

The color performance of the HV20 was not the motivation behind going B&W.

The great thing about the Brevis is that it's versatile - you can shoot guerilla-style with it on the HV20, and then later put it on a different camera and create something glossier.
