We had a bit of fun at the stillmotion.ca studio opening last week. This interview was shot using the XH-A1, Brevis flip, and I believe an 85mm FD lens. Note how free of chromatic aberration the XH-A1 footage is! This interview has some mature themes..but all in fun :-)

More pics...compliments of the monster light table we just built :-)

1. Capacity, 600 lbs plus.
2. Weight, 47 lbs.
3. Construction: 100% CNC milled/formed aluminum.
4. Fasteners: Stainless Steel
5. No less than 42 ball bearings.
6. Follows curved track, track of varying spacing, and uneven surfaces.
7. Breaks down in about 7 minutes for air travel, or about 60 seconds for trunk travel.
8. Can follow uneven track without de-railing.
9. 16 custom manufactured (and logo'd) wheels with ABEC5 bearings.
10. Center tower mounts/dismounts in 30 seconds with no tools.
11. Two modes, doorway or wide stance for jib/crane mounting.

Options:

1. Seat option for 1 or 2 riders.
2. Push handle mounts both sides
3. Center tower with 100mm bowl, extends 3 to 6 feet.
4. Jib, coming soon.

It'll run on just about anything between 1 and 2 inches in diameter. We like using schedule 40 white PVC pipe (1 inch/25mm inner diameter) as it has a very stiff wall, but bends very nicely for those curved shot setups. We'll have some video later this week, possibly next of a very simple, inexpensive setup. The shop is already making the couplers that make joining them together smoothly a snap.

What are the dimensions of the platform and can a tripod be used on it instead of the turret? If so, how can a tripod be securely held to the platform?

Also, what's your estimate on when the jib/crane will be available? Any specs you can share at this time?

Leo, it's 30" x 34". You can actually get away with a much larger platformm if required by using a plywood platform over top....the trucks are designed to operate beneath.

The jib will be much quicker than the dolly to market..about 6 weeks from now. It uses a similar bearing system with parts designed to be as universal as possible.

We've also got a low-rise kit in production so you could potentially have your camera inverted at 1" above the floor...or about 10" above using the 100mm bowl.

Having retractable wheels so you can make a smaller foot print would be hot for times when space is tiny.

Hi,
I have been on a hunt of a dolly and fell in love with cinvates ballare dolly.. specially for the price!
although i found a flaw! no CASE! all other dolly companies provide their dolly with the ideal "pelican case type" case with specially designed inserts for the dolly.. does the dolly ship with such? or is it a Con. at the moment?
