HV40 - Brevis MP1 Questions

I have a question regarding my Canon hv40 and recently purcahsed mp1.

When I zoom in it does not let me focus, I am assuming this is because it as the CFL1 imaging element.
My question is if I purchase the spacer will that give me enough room to focus when I zoom in or will I have to get the CF1 imaging element?

it sounds like you have a backfocus issue. When using a CF1LE with a smaller format camera, you'll get alot of vignetting. With the HV20/30/40 you do not need a spacer ring, just make sure that you're on manual focus and use your focus assist to zoom in and check to see if you can see the grain on the imaging element.
